If your Tik Tok FYP looks anything like mine, it’s covered with morning routine videos featuring the popular Hatch Restore Alarm Clock. But with its $130-$199 price tag, is the Hatch Restore really worth the investment? (Spoiler alert – it juuust might be!)
Key Features and Benefits
Just a quick disclaimer, I am an incredibly heavy sleeper and a chronic alarm-snoozer. Frankly, I was apprehensive that an alarm clock that lights up and sings melodies would do an adequate job of waking me up. But I was pleasantly surprised!
Everything about the Hatch Restore is customizable, but some of my favorite features include:
- Customized sunrise alarm: the “sunlight” starts 5-60 minutes before the alarm time to give your body ample time to gently wake up.
- Bedtime wind downs: including sunsets, meditation audios, bedtime stories, ASMR, and more.
- Adjustable lighting: I love to use the red light therapy at nights while I read my kindle. It puts me right to sleep!
- Sleeping noises: like running rivers, crackling fires, even a dishwasher running noise.
- Gentle alarm audios: my favorites are the birds chirping and the bells.
- Mobile connectivity: and it all connects to an app, which makes settings easy to adjust.
- Responsive customer service: any issue or question I have had has been promptly answered by the customer service team. So Hatch gets huge points for how they treat their customers!
The combination of the wind down & wake up features makes for an incredible night of sleep, and a very gentle wake up.
The Best Hatch Sleep Routine Settings
Before Bed
- 30 minutes of the red light while I read
- Follow that up with the Total Relaxation guided rest
- Turn on River Creek noises for 2 hours (to keep me asleep!)
Wake Up
- I wake up to the Morning Stroll sunrise & the Morning Bird alarm
Downsides & Limitations
Despite the incredible sleep i get when I use my Hatch, there are some potential drawbacks.
- The subscription model: while it’s true you can use the Hatch Restore without the additional subscription charge, you wouldn’t have access to nearly as much content.
- App connectivity: the connection with the app is a bit finicky, and sometimes I have to reboot the alarm clock to get the proper connection.
- No additional sleep data insights: despite the price, this isn’t a sleep monitoring device. You do not get any sleep data to analyze like you would with an Oura ring.
Cheaper Hatch Alternatives
If a $200 alarm clock simply isn’t in the cards at the moment, here are a couple of alternatives I found that offer the sunrise/ light assisted wake up.
Personally, I still prefer the aesthetic of the Hatch, and I love all of the meditations and soundscapes that come with the subscription. But these would probably also do the trick!
The Verdict: Is The Hatch Worth It?
My personal opinion is that the Hatch alarm clock is worth the investment, I absolutely love this thing! I get great quality sleep when I utilize the wind down features, and the sleeping noises keep me snoozing away for hours on end.
However, there are some other alternatives on the market that could give you a similar outcome for less money. The Hatch is not a must have by any means.
If you have a wellness fanatic in your life, this would be the ultimate Christmas gift idea! Getting a great night’s sleep is one of my favorite health and wellness tips!
